1. Simple Preposition: একটি Word বা syllable দ্বারা গঠিত Preposition হলো Simple Preposition.
Example: At, in, On, by, with, ইত্যাদি।

2. Double Preposition: দুটি Simple Preposition যুক্ত হয়ে একটি Preposition গঠন করলে তাকে Double Preposition বলে।
Example: Within (with+in),  into (in+to), onto (on + to)

3. Compound Preposition: কোন Noun, adjective বা adverb-এর পূর্বে কোন Simple Preposition যুক্ত হয়ে যে Preposition গঠিত হয় তাকে Compound Preposition বলে। Compound Preposition গঠন করার সময় by এর স্থানে b বা be হয়। On এর স্থানে a।

Example: about (on+by+out), below (by+low)

4. Phrase Preposition: দুই বা ততোধিক Preposition (বা Word) একত্রে Phrase Preposition গঠন করে।
Example: In front of, In order to, In lieu of ইত্যাদি।

5. Participle Preposition: Participle of verb (Present or past) কখনো কখনো Preposition-এর মতো ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Example: He saw the people walking past him.

6. Disguised Preposition: অনেক ক্ষেত্রে লক্ষ্য করা যায় on, at, of, Preposition-এর পরিবর্তে a বা o ব্যবহৃত হয়। এরূপ a বা o কে Disguised Preposition বলে।
 Example: He comes here at 7 o'clock.

7. Special Preposition: Than ও but মূলত Conjunction হলেও কখনো আবার Preposition রূপে ব্যবহৃত হয়। তখন তাদের Special Preposition বলে।
Example: I am older than her.

8. Verbal Preposition: এই জাতীয় Preposition Verb-এর পূর্বে যুক্ত হয়ে নতুন Verb গঠন করে।
Example: Overlook (Over+look), Withdraw (with+draw).
 

1. অবস্থান বুঝাতে, ছোট স্থানের আগে যেমনঃ গ্রাম, এলাকা, মহল্লা ও ছোট শহরের আগে at বসে।
Example: at Beutha, at Singdair.

2. সময় বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: I go to bed at 10 o’ clock.

3. অবস্থা বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: The country is at war now.

4. হার / গতি বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: Rana was driving the car at 100 kilometers per hour.

5. দায়িত্ব বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: You must repair it at your own cost.

6. দূরত্ব বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: Tangail is at 92 kilometers from here.

7. বয়স বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: He lost his father at 10.

8. দিক বুঝাতে at বসে।
Example: He pointed the gun at him.

👉নিচের word গুলোর পর at বসে- arrive, astonished, annoyed, envy, fire, knock, shame, smile, laugh, surprised, touch, wonder, alarm, jeer.


1. কোন স্থানে আসা এবং যাওয়া বুঝালে ঐ স্থানের আগে to বসে।
Example:

a. He goes to school everyday.
b. He came to Bangladesh in 1971.

N.B: আসা এবং যাওয়া বুঝালেও home, abroad, here, there এর আগে to বসে না। ব্যতিক্রমঃ From here to there.

2. বাক্যে V+তে / র = to+V1.

Example:

a. He told me to read a book.
b. I have nothing to give you.

3. ব্যক্তির কাছে/নিকটবর্তী বুঝালে তার আগে to বসে।
Example: He came to me.

4. অনুসারে বুঝাতে to বসে।
Example: The food is to me test.

5. সীমানার বাইরে বুঝাতে to বসে।
Example: Japan is to the east of our country.

6. পর্যন্ত বুঝাতে to বসে।
Example: They fought to the last.

7. পরিমান / হার বুঝাতে to বসে।
Example: There are 2.54 c.m. to an inch.

👉নিচের word গুলোর পর to বসে-incline, harmful, beneficial, injurious, according, accustomed, add, admit, adjacent, affectionate, attend, bar, cling, belong, close, commit, common, known, confined, congenial, contrary, dedicate, devote, expose, exceptional, yeld, grateful, hostile, indebted, introduced, irrelevant, liable, loyal,object, prefer, preferable, senior,junior, superior,talk, inferior, prone, refer, reply, speak, lead, eager,willing.


1. কোন বিষয় বা ভাষায় বুঝালে তার আগে in বসে।
Example: in English, in Accounting, in Arabic.

2. বড় স্থান বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: We live in Dhaka.

3. সময়ের ক্ষেত্রে ( মাস / বছর / ঋতুর নাম ) বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: We get freedom in December in 1971.

4. ক্ষেত্র বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: I am unable to help you in this regard.

5. অবস্থা বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: She is in a good health.

6. বিবেচনা বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: You have to do it in your own interest.

7. পেশার ক্ষেত্র বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: Rana has been in politics.

8. মাধ্যম বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: You have to pay the bill in cash.

9. অনুপাতের ক্ষেত্র বুঝাতে in বসে।
Example: In England, one in three enters higher.


👉নিচের word গুলোর পর in বসে- expert, excel, indulge, succeed, believe, assist, interested, consist, lie, encourage, grory, persist, rich, trade.


1. সময়ের আগে ধরে / যাবৎ / ব্যাপিয়া বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: It has been raining for two hours.

2  জন্য বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: What can I do for you?

3. সাহায্য অর্থে বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: Would you please do it for me?

4. কারন বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: Rajshahi district is famous for its mangoes.

5. সমর্থন বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: Are you for the proposal?

6. মূল্য বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: He bought this pen for 20 taka.

7. বিনিময় বুঝাইতে for বসে।
Example: You will get a coupon for every 200 taka you pay.


👉নিচের word গুলোর পর for বসে- compensate, ask, affection, appetite, bound, care, desire, long, fit, search, seek, thirst, zeal, zest.


1. সম্পর্কে / বিষয়ে বুঝাতে about বসে।

Example: I knew something about it.

2. চারদিকে বুঝাতে about বসে।
Example: The runners were running about the circle.

3. উপলক্ষ বুঝাতে about বসে।
Example: He came here about the marriage ceremony.

4. প্রায় / কাছাকাছি বুঝাতে about বসে।

Example: He has lost about 1 lac taka.

On এর ব্যবহার

1. নদীর তীরে বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: Dhaka is on the Buriganga.

2. কোন কিছুর উপরে সংলগ্ন বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: The pen is on the table.

3. Floor এর সংখ্যা বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: The office is on the 5th floor.

4. সীমানার উপর বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: The Buriganga is on the south of Dhaka.

5. বার / তারিখের পূর্বে এবং দিবসের আগে বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: She will come back on Sunday on the 5th May.

6. সম্বন্ধে বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: She wrote an essay on the cow.

7. নির্ভরতা বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: We live on oxygen.

8. অনুসারে বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: She has taken leave on medical advice.

9. সময়ের বর্ণনা বুঝাতে on বসে।
Example: The moon looks beautiful on a moonlit night.

👉নিচের word গুলোর পর on বসে- congratulate, comment, pride, rely, bestowed, insist, determined, depend, impose, reflect, take pity.


1. উপরে বুঝাতে above বসে।
Example: The water came above our knees.

2. অবস্থান বুঝাতে above বসে।
Example: The sun is above our head now.

3. পরিমাণে বুঝাতে above বসে।
Example: Present temperature is above average.

4. এতটাই সৎ / ভালো বুঝাতে above বসে।
Example: Hemani is above suspicion.

5. অতিমাত্রা বুঝাতে above বসে।
Example: I couldn’t hear him above the noise of the traffic.


1. সাথে বুঝাতে with বসে।
Example: He came with me.

2. দ্বারা / দিয়া বুঝাতে with বসে।
Example: He killed the snake with a stick.

3. কারন with বসে।
Example: The shadow lengthened with the approach of the sun.

👉নিচের word গুলোর পর with বসে- burden, cope, keep, up, keep pace, acquitted, angry, annoy, beset, blessed, covered, compare(ব্যক্তির সাথে হলে with কিন্তু জিনিসের সাথে হলে to), content, familiar, invest, popular, reward.


1. কোন উপায় বা পদ্বতির মাধ্যমে বুঝাইতে তার আগে by বসে।
Example: By hard labour.

2. পাশে বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: She sat by me.

3. মাধ্যম বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: Rima achieved success by determination.

4. পথ অর্থে বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: She will travel by road.

5. শপথ নেয়া বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: He swears by almighty Allah.

6. Passive Form-এ by বসে।
Example: The work was done by her.

7. পরিমাপ বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: The room is 13 feet by 10 feet.

8. সময়(সুনির্দিষ্ট) বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: She will come back by 8 pm.

9. হার বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: They are improving day by day.

10. কারো সম্পর্কে জানতে অর্থ বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: She is an Australian by birth.

11. যানবাহনে ভ্রমণ বুঝাতে by বসে।
Example: We went to Tangail by bus.

1. সম্পর্ক বুঝাতে of বসে।
Example: She knows nothing of it.

2  অধিকার / মালিকানা বুঝাতে of বসে।

Example: It is the house of Maruf.

3. উৎপন্ন / উদ্ভুত অর্থ বুঝাতে of বসে। Example: She comes of a respectable family.

4. উপকরণ বুঝাতে of বসে।
Example: The building is made of stone.

5. কারন বুঝাতে of বসে।
Example: The young girl died of cholera.

👉নিচের word গুলোর পর of বসে- fond, sure, conscious, aware, inform, proud, boast, capable, deprieve, devoid, accused, charged, advantage, dull, afraid, approve, bereft, cause, consist(গঠিত অর্থে), cure, in the habit, in favour, envious, fear, full, ignorant, get rid, jealous, shortage.


1. নির্দিষ্ট স্থান থেকে দূরে কিংবা সময়ের ব্যবধান বোঝাতে off ব্যবহূত হয়।
Example:

a. They called him but he ran off.
b. Winter is not far off now.

2. কোনো কিছু দূরীভূত হয়েছে বোঝাতে off ব্যবহূত হয়।
Example:

a. Take your shoes off.
b.  He has had his beard shaved off.

3. বন্ধ কিংবা বাতিল বোঝাতে off ব্যবহূত হয়।
Example:

a. The ceremony is off.
b. The switch of the fan has been made off.

4. কর্ম থেকে দূরে বা ছুটি বোঝাতে off ব্যবহূত হয়।
Example:

a. She is off today.
b. He has got three days off next week.


1. কারো নিকট হইতে অথবা কোন স্থান হইতে বুঝাইলে  from বসে।
Example:

a. The woman come from abroad.
b. Don’t get down from a running bus.

👉নিম্নের word গুলোর পর from বসে- refrain, resist, obstrain, prohibited, protect, prevent, preserve, aloof, deferent, suffer.


1. গতিশীলতা বুঝাতে into বসে।
Example: The teacher entered into the class room.

2. অবস্থার পরিবর্তন বুঝাতে into বসে।

Example: Water is changed into ice.

3. সংঘর্ষ বুঝাতে into বসে।
Example: The truck crashed into a parked car.

4. সংখ্যায় ভাগ হওয়া বুঝাতে into বসে।
Example: They were divided into three groups.

5. নির্দেশ বুঝাতে into বসে।
Example: Speak clearly into the phone.


1. সম্পর্কে / বিষয়ে বুঝাতে about বসে।

Example: I knew something about it.

2. চারদিকে বুঝাতে about বসে।

Example: The runners were running about the circle.

3. উপলক্ষ বুঝাতে about বসে।

Example: He came here about the marriage ceremony.

4. প্রায় / কাছাকাছি বুঝাতে about বসে।

Example: He has lost about 1 lac taka.


1. পরে বুঝাতে after বসে।

Example: The house is pleasantly cool after the extreme heat outside.


1. পূর্বে বুঝাতে before বসে। যেমনঃ He came before lunch.

2. সম্মুখে / সামনে বুঝাতে before বসে।

Example: He stood before me.

3. তূলনামূলক ভাবে আগে / বিশেষ গুরুত্ব বুঝাতে before বসে।

Example: He puts his work.


1. কিছুর মধ্যে( চারদিক বেষ্টিত ) বুঝাতে among বসে। Example: There is a house among the trees.

2. দু’য়ের অধিকের মধ্যে বুঝাতে among বসে।

Example: Divided the mangoes among the three boys.


1. সময়ের মধ্যে বুঝাতে within বসে।

Example: He will come back within a month.

2. সামর্থ্যের মধ্যে বুঝাতে within বসে।

Example: We should live within our means.


1. উপর বুঝাতে over বসে।

যেমনঃ There is a bridge over the river.

2. পারাপার বুঝাতে over বসে।

Example: They run over the glass.

3. সমগ্র / সারা অর্থ বুঝাতে over বসে।

Example: They have traveled over the world.

4. বিপরিত পাশ বুঝাতে over বসে।

যেমনঃ They live over the road.

5. অধিক বুঝাতে over বসে।
Example: He was in America for over a month.

6. উপরস্থ কর্মকর্তা বুঝাতে over বসে।

Example: He has a director over him.

7. মাধ্যম বুঝাতে over বসে।

Example: He talked over telephone.


1. নিচে বুঝাতে under বসে। Example: The ball is under the table.

2. ছোট / কম পরিমান / বয়স বুঝাতে under বসে। Example: i. He is under 20. ii. He earns under 5000.

3. অধীনে আর্থ বুঝাতে under বসে। Example: The building is under construction.

4. অবস্থা বুঝাতে under বসে। Example: He is under sentence to death.

1. দুইয়ের মধ্যে বুঝাতে between ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Example:

a. She stood between her two sisters.
b) Divide the mango between two brothers.


1. ছাড়া অর্থ বুঝাতে without ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Example:

a) He found the place without difficulty.
b) We can’t live without water.



1. পিছনে / অপরদিক অর্থ বুঝাতে beyond বসে।
Example: The road continues beyond the villages up into the hills.

2. সময়ের পরে বুঝাতে beyond বসে। Example: It won’t go on beyond midnight.

3. সাধ্যের বাইরে বুঝাতে beyond বসে। Example: The car was beyond repair.

1. হইতে’ অর্থে prior of time এর পূর্বে since বসে।

Example: Since 1971, since Sunday, since June.


1. পাশে বুঝাতে by এর মত beside বসে। যেমনঃ beside me, beside the man, beside you.

2. এছাড়াও বুঝাইতে besides বসে।

Example: She has another pen besides this.


ভিতর / মধ্য দিয়ে বুঝাতে Through বসে।

Example:

a. through the forest.
b) through struggle.


1. আড়াআড়ি ভাবে / অপর পার্শ্বে বুঝাতে across বসে।

Example:

a) Go across the street.
b) My house is just across the road.


নিচ থেকে উপরের দিকে বুঝাইতে up বসে।

Example:

a) Go up the hill.
b) Climb up the tree.

Down এর ব্যবহার

উপর থেকে নিচের দিকে বুঝাইতে down বসে।

Example: The girl has fallen down from the roof.


নিম্নে বর্নিত, নির্দিষ্ট পরিমাণ বা সংখ্যা কম,পর্যায়ের নিচে বুঝাতে across বসে।
Example:

a) My particulars are given below.
b) Raj has got below 75% marks.
