অনুবাদ: একদিন নাসিরউদ্দিন হোজজা তাঁর দোতলা বাড়ির ছাদে একটা ছিদ্র মেরামত করছিলেন। হঠাৎ তিনি দেখলেন নিচ থেকে একজন লোক তাঁকে ডাকছে। লোকটি তাকে নিচে নেমে তার কথা শুনতে বলল। কৌতূহলী হয়ে, তিনি ছাদ থেকে সিঁড়ি বেয়ে নিচে নামলেন। যখন তিনি নিকটে আসলেন তখন লোকটি বলল যে, সে একজন ভিক্ষুক এবং সে কিছু টাকা চায়।
হোজজা খুব ক্ষিপ্ত হলেন এবং তাকে একটি শিক্ষা দিতে মনস্থ করলেন। তাই তিনি লোকটিকে সিঁড়ি বেয়ে তার সাথে ওপরে উঠতে বললেন। তারা উভয়েই যখন ছাদের ওপরে উঠলেন যেখানে হোজজা কাজ করছিলেন, তখন তিনি লোকটির দিকে ফিরলেন এবং বললেন, “দুঃখিত আমার কাছে কোনো টাকা নেই, তাই তোমাকে ফিরে যেতে হবে।”
ভিক্ষুকটি খুবই অবাক হলো এবং জিজ্ঞেস করল যে, তার কাছে টাকা নেই একথা বলার জন্যে কেন হোজজা তাকে সিঁড়ি বেয়ে ওপরে ওঠাল। হোজজা তৎক্ষণাৎ জবাব দিলেন, “কেন তুমি টাকা চাওয়ার জন্য আমাকে সিঁড়ি বেয়ে নিচে নামালে ? তুমি কি দেখ নি যে আমি কাজ করছিলাম?”
