লাইনটির বাংলা অর্থ ‘চারপাশের লোকজন শুধু দেখছে একটি ছোট ছেলে গভীর খালে ডুবে যেতে শুরু করেছে’। গ্যাপ (a) তে লক্ষ্য করুন ‘the (a) —- (pre-modify the noun) boy’ আছে। বলা হচ্ছে boy- noun টিকে pre-modify করতে হবে। আর Noun কে pre- modify করতে হয় Adjective দ্বারা। অতএব এখানে একটি Adjective ব্যবহৃত হবে। যেহেতু বলা হচ্ছে ‘boy টি খালে ডুবে যাচ্ছে’। কেমন boy হলে খালে ডুবে যায়? নিশ্চয়ই young boy. অতএব গ্যাপ (a) তে adjective হিসেবে young ব্যবহৃত হবে। গ্যাপ (b) তে বলা হচ্ছে ‘ the young boy started (b) —- (post modify the verb) into (c) —- canal’ এখানে বলা হচ্ছে ‘started’ verb টিকে post modify করতে। started এরপর একটি Gerund বসিয়ে তাকে post modify করতে হব। আবার গ্যাপের পরে আছে into — canal. অতএব এখানে বোঝাই যাচ্ছে ‘ছেলেটি খালে ডুবে যেতে শুরু করেছে’। আর ‘ডুবে যাওয়া’ ইংরেজি হলো drown. এখানে started এরপর drowning ব্যবহার করতে হবে। গ্যাপ (c) তে বলা হচ্ছে ‘started drowning into the (c) —- (pre modify the noun) canal’. এখানে বলা হচ্ছে canal- noun কে pre- modify করতে হবে। Adjective দ্বারা Noun কে pre-modify করতে হয়। অতএব এখানে deep- Adjective ব্যাবহার করে canal- noun কে Pre- modify করতে হবে।

বাংলা অর্থ ‘তাৎক্ষনিভাবে, সে খালে ঝাপ দিয়েছিল’। এই লাইনে বলা হচ্ছে no time- Noun কে pre modify করতে হবে Gerund ব্যবহার করে। প্রকৃত বিষয় হলো waste no time একটি Phrase যার অর্থ তাৎক্ষণিক/immediately. তাই waste এর সাথে ing যোগ করে Gerund করলেই আমরা Answer পেয়ে যাচ্ছি।

বাংলা অর্থ ‘সে এতো দয়ালু যে, সে নিজের জীবন ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ করে তুলেছিলো’। এখানে বলা হচ্ছে kind- adjective কে intensifier দিয়ে Pre-modify করতে হবে। Intensifier হলো So, very, extremely ইত্যাদি। এরা Adjective এর উপর দেয়ার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়। এখানে যেহেতু kind এরপর that আছে, তাই আমরা intensifier হিসাবে so ব্যবহার করবো।
