Passage Narration Suggestion For SSC

1. Change the narrative style of the following text.
"Stop! You are eating all our bread," shouted the two rats. "I am doing my best but I have told you it's difficult," said the monkey. "Give us the little piece," said the rats. "This is my piece. Haven't I done a lot of work for you?" replied the monkey. "How foolish we to believe you!" said the rats.

Answer: The two rats shouted at the monkey to stop and said that he was eating all their bread. The monkey told them that he was doing his best but he had told them that it's difficult. They told to give them the little piece. He told them that it was his piece and asked if he hadn't done a lot of work for them. The rats exclaimed with sorrow that they were very foolish to believe him.

2. Rina said Sima, “why don't you get up early from sleep?” Sima said, “It is tough for me to leave bed early.” “Alas! It is a bad habit, said Rina, if you leave bed early, you can enjoy sound health. Follow my advice.”

Answer: Rina asked Sima why she (S) did not get up early from sleep. She replied that it was tough for her (S) to leave bed early. Rina exclaimed with sorrow that it was a very bad habit. She (R) added that if she (S) left bed early, she (S) could enjoy sound health. She (R) also requested her (S) to follow her (S) advice.

3. The new teacher entered the classroom and said, “Can you tell me what I should do now?” “No, sir,” one of the students said. The teacher smiled and said, “Try to guess.” “You should introduce yourself to us,” another students said. “Thank you, said the teacher. “You are really brilliant.”

Answer: The new teacher entered the classroom and asked the students if they could tell him what he should do then. One of the students replied respectfully in the negative. The teacher smiled and told them to try to guess. Another student replied that he (T) should introduce himself to them. The teacher thanked him and said that he was really brilliant.

4. “I've got GPA-5 in the SSC Examination,” said Samir. “ Congratulations, brother!” I said. “What do you intend to do now?” “I wish to study science group in a reputed college. I've a mind to get admission in BUET after my HSC, ” Samir replied.

Answer: Samir told me that he had got GPA-5 in the SSC examination. Addressing him as brother, I congratulated him and asked him what he intended to study then. Samir replied that he wished to study science group in reputed college. He added that he had a mind to get admission in BUET after his HSC.

5. “Why did you not go to school yesterday, Rimu?” asked the mother. “I was ill, mum.” “How are you today?” “Well,” answered the girl. “Don't worry for me.”

Answer: Mother asked Rimu why she had not gone to school the previous day. Rimu replied that she had been ill. Mother again asked her how she was that day. The girl (Rimu) answered that she was well. She also told her mother not to worry for her (R).

6. The teacher said to the boy, “Do you know that honesty is the best policy?" The boy said, “yes, sir, I think so.” “Then learn to be honest from your boyhood," said the teacher. “Thank you," said the boy. “May Allah help you," said the teacher. 

Answer: The teacher asked the boy if he knew that honesty is the best policy. The boy respectfully replied in the affirmative and said that he thought so. Then the teacher advised him to learn to be honest from his boyhood. The boy respectfully thanked him (T). The teacher wished that Allah might help him (B).

7. “May I come in, Sir?” said the guardian. "Yes, come in, please", said the Headmaster. The guardian said, "We, all the guardians along with you must do something for the betterment of our children. They are losing their morality". The Headmaster said, "Let's plan something for their betterment."

Answer: The guardian politely asked the Headmaster's permission if he (g) might go in. The Headmaster replied in the affirmative and requested the guardian to come in. Then the guardian said that they, all the guardians along with him (H) had to do something for the betterment of their children. He also added that the they (children) were losing their morality. Next the Headmaster proposed that they should plan something for their children's betterment.

8. The stranger said to the boy, “Can you tell me the way to the nearest hotel?" “Yes sir, I can. Do you want a residential one in which you can spend the night?" said the boy. “I do not want to stay there but I only want a meal," replied the man.

Answer: The stranger asked the boy if he could tell him (stranger) the way to the nearest hotel. The boy politely replied in the affirmative and said that he could. Then he asked the stranger if he wanted a residential one in which he (stranger) could spend the night. The man (S) replied that he did not want to stay there but he only wanted a meal.

9. The teacher said to the student, “Have you prepared your lesson today?” “No, Sir”, replied the student. The teacher said, "Why?" "I was suffering from a headache yesterday. I shall do my work tomorrow," said the student.

Answer: The teacher asked the student if he had prepared his lesson that day. The student respectfully replied in the negative and said that he didn't. Then the teacher asked the reason. In reply, the student said that he had been suffering from a headache the previous day. He added that he would do his work the following day.

10. “Have you ever been to Cox’s Bazar?” asked Shihab. “No, I have never been there,” replied Labib. “But I desire for visiting the place.” “I had an opportunity to visit the sea beach last year,” said Shihab. "Let us go there this week," said Labib.

Answer: Shihab asked Labib if he had ever been to Cox’s Bazar. Labib replied in the negative and said that he had never been to Cox's Bazar, but he said that he desired for visiting the place. Shihab told that he had had an opportunity to visit sea beach the previous year. Then Labib proposed that they should go there that week.

11. The old man said, “Can you give me some food? I have been starving for three days.” The maid said, “Why do you beg? Can’t you work?” “No, I am unable to work,” the old man replied.

Answer: The old man asked the maid if/whether she could give him some food. He added that he had been starving for three days. The maid asked the old man why he begged. She also asked the old man whether he could not work. The old man replied in the negative that he was unable to work.
