LIFE OF STREET CHILDREN
Street children are poor, helpless and homeless children for whom streets of a city, town or village become habitual abode, a source of living and who are deprived of adequate protection and supervision of responsible guardians.
They are seen to be the children of divorced parents, thrown-away children from single-parent homes, children born out of wedlock or orphans. They lead a very miserable life. They are seen to beg, starve and sleep in the footpath, market places, parks, bus or train stations, etc.
Many of them collect trash and sell it to vendor. Many are seen to sell flower, garlands, ice cream, newspapers, etc. Businessmen or shop owners often employ them for various difficult and risky jobs. They exploit them mercilessly. They are not given adequate food, good living place or proper medical treatment in their illness or accident.
They suffer from hunger, malnutrition and diseases. Sometimes, they succumb to serious illness or serious wound without getting proper or any treatment. There are numerous children scattered across the country. Street children are a matter of great concern. They being deprived of human love, education and social protection cannot grow into human resource.
Rather they become burden to the society or country. Many of them grow into criminals and get involved in various antisocial and criminal activities. They harm society in various ways.
But if these children are given adequate facilities including food, shelter, education, security, they can turn into asset. They getting proper education and social security can grow into good citizens.
So, government and non-government organizations and rich people should come forward to rehabilitate them so that they can grow up in a secured atmosphere and become good citizens of the country.
