Adolescence refers to the phase in human growth and development occurring after childhood and before to adulthood. It represents one of the critical transitions in one's life span.

It is characterized by fast paced growth grand change. There are some noticeable changes and development in biological process. For example, gaining en puberty and experiencing an alteration in tone are the most common phenomena. The time of adolescence is a period of preparation for adulthood.

Some acute psychological changes occur during adolescence. Flourishing of personality is introduced in this stage. The adolescents get emotional and find his / her personal identity. 

However, it is also a time of considerable risks. Many adolescents feel curious to use alcohol, cigarettes, or other drugs. Some of them get involved in illegal sexual relationships that put themselves at high risk for intentional and unintentional injuries, unintended pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.

Some of them may experience mental health problems too. Adolescents are not fully capable of makes them particularly understanding complex concepts and facing difficult situations. Such inability vulnerable to sexual exploitation and high risk behaviours.

Families, communities, schools, health services and their workplaces should help them learn a wide range of skills. These skills can help them. cope with the pressures they face. Thereby, a successful transition from childhood to adulthood may be possible. Parents as well as members of the community must be very careful about them.

We have to go through different stages in our life. Among these stages, adolescence is very significant. It begins with puberty. It is the transition period of our life. Its duration is considerably short.

Fast growth and quick change are the characteristics of adolescence. At this stage, human beings learn to reproduce. This stage helps them to develop their individual identity.

The characteristics of adolescence may vary across time, cultures and socio-economic conditions. At present, puberty comes earlier than before.

People marry late and their sexual attitudes and behaviours are different from their grandparents or even parents. Education, urbanization and the spread of global communication are responsible for this change. 

In fact, adolescence is the period of preparation for adulthood. It is also a time of considerable risks. It helps human beings to achieve independence, skills and abstract reasoning.

In this period human beings learn to carry out adult relationships. At this stage, adolescents may lose the right way of life.
