My Celebration of the Independence Day paragraph

The Independence Day of this year was celebrated with due respect and solemnity at our college. The college compound was decorated with various festoons, banners, flags and placards.

The chief guest of our programme was Principal Abdul Rahman, a well known educationist in our area. Besides, local elites were invited. The day's programme started with the hoisting of the national flag.

Our chief guest hoisted the national flag. Our Principal accompanied him to the flag stand. Then there was the scouts' march past. The chief guest took the salute.

Then national anthem was sung by the audience present there. After that a discussion meeting was held in the college auditorium.

Teachers, students and the invited guests were present there. The meeting started as soon as the chief guest took his seat. Our Principal chaired the programme. Teachers and students took part in discussion.

Everybody heard the chief guest's speech with rapt attention. His speech enkindled the patriotic zeal in the minds of the audience. The last event was a cultural programme. Students sang patriotic songs, recited poems on liberation war and at the end they staged a drama.

The programme ended with chairperson's thanksgiving speech. This day is really an important and memorable day in my life.
