Blow Blow Thou Winter Wind Summary

Lines 1-6: The poet requests the winter wind to blow and tells that it is not so unkind as man's ungratefulness. The poet wants to mean that winter wind is cruel but man's ungratefulness is more cruel. In winter, the wind is biting cold. But when a man forgets gratefulness, it is more biting.

The tooth of winter wind does not seem so sharp because it is not seen. It does not give pain directly. In winter, the wind blows harshly. But it is not so harsh as the rudeness of an ungrateful man. Even winter wind is not so rude as man's unkind heart.

Lines 7-10: The poet sings and feels happy with the winter wind in the green forest. He then says that friendship in human life is not true even it ends in sorrow. But life in green forest is happy and merry because winter wind does not deceive.

Lines 11-17: In winter, the wind becomes very cold and the sky becomes dark. But it does not seem to be painful. When a man forgets the help done by their friends, it is more painful than the biting of winter wind. In winter, snow falls and it is cold. It is like the biting of an insect. But when a man forgets his friend, it is sharper than the bitterness of cold. Then the poet sings and expresses his happiness in the green forest .
